K-ON! ED – Don’t Say ‘Lazy’ (English ver.)

I’ve recently started watching K-ON! and fell in love with it right away, especially the songs the girls sing! I thought it would be fun to do an English version of the ED, “Don’t Say ‘Lazy’”, so here it is!!

Translation help from Deciphered Melody

These English lyrics are 100% my own, so you may use them if you want, please attribute them to me if you’re planning to use them for something ^.^

And maybe if I get unlazy enough (:-P) I’ll do an English version of “Cagayake! Girls” as well, since I’ve been kind of wanting to that also ^.^

One of my friends has spent the last year or so in Japan, and he came back to visit this weekend ^o^ Not only was it awesome to see him again, but he also gave me the cutest Hannari Tofu cellphone/keychain charm!! ^.^

Kyttyee’s going to Anime Expo!!!!!!!!!!

Wooh!! I’m so excited XD I’ve been considering going to AX for quite awhile now, basically as soon as I found out Momusu was going to be performing there But it was kind of like… ehh… do I have money? And then, my flight home from visiting Northwestern got overbooked, which in retrospect was awesome, because I gave up my seat, flew into Manchester instead of Boston, and now have a free round-trip voucher that I can use to fly to LA! Plus, my boyfriend’s got family in Orange County, and he wanted to visit them sometime in the summer anyways, so housing is free too!!

AND TO UP THE EXCITEMENT, the all-awesome Miri is applying for booth + performance space/time at AX for Sekai no Melody!!!!! Yes… that’s exactly what really pushed me over the edge to motivate myself to figure out logistics for getting to AX… I MIGHT GET TO ACTUALLY PERFORM!!! In real life with the awesome people from SnM!!!

That combined with seeing Momusu in real life… I’m waaaaay too excited about AX now XD I finally registered me and my boyfriend both, and bought tickets to the Momusu concert. Now he gets to deal with me being super-hyper the rest of the weekend. I’ve been getting about 4-5 hours of sleep a night for the past 3 nights, soooo…. Kyttyee ish very hyper!!!!

Now I have motivation to actually do my Amulet Spade cosplay I already have the socks, the boots, and the hair, I just have to make the actual clothes ^.^

You Are My Love

Another anime song!!! I was in a melancholy mood the other day, which was perfect for this song! It’s an insert song sung by Sakura in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. I absolutely love Makino Yui’s voice, and it’s really awesome that her songs happen to be also good for my voice ^_^

I think this is one of the best dubs I’ve done in awhile, which is probably a combination of luck, choosing a song that’s right for my voice, and actually being warmed up when I sang it. It’s not perfect, there are a couple of shaky notes, a couple that are just a smidgen off >.<, but I think overall it’s pretty good ^_^

Tsuki no Curse

Even though the style of this song isn’t really a very good one for my voice (not so good at the whole dramatic belting thing… -.- aka, I suck at “Meikyuu Butterfly” too) the fact that it has a lot of background vocals that are NOT included in the instrumental track was just too attractive of a challenge to pass up =3

It took me about a day of puttering around, playing small bits on slow, etc… to figure out all of the harmonies, but it was really fun! The final execution of all of them was not perfect, but decently good I think. I was sad that I had to leave out the awesome reverberated background vocals thing in the the interlude, but I couldn’t figure out what words they were saying and anything imitation/making-things-up that I attempted just sounded completely retarded, so I thought it was better to just leave it out -.-

But anyways… Here ’tis!! It’s the OP to Loveless, in case people want to know…

Totoro can haz dust ball?

My collection of Studio Ghibli stuffies has grown!!! About a year ago, one of my best friends got me an awesome Totoro stuffie while he was interning in Beijing ^_^ And I thought that was awesome, but then a couple weeks ago my Totoro found a dust ball friend (courtesy of my now boyfriend’s trip to Japan)!!!

I also got some other interesting presents, including the cutest toe-socks I’ve ever seen! SQUEE!

And this bag, which he thought was really funny (and then K-Snow and I explained that “Chu” means kiss… and hence the XXX are probably kisses… -.-)

WHEE PRESENTS ^o^ But Totoro’s new dust ball buddy definitely wins the prize for most awesome ^_^

Sorairo

For a FukiSuki New Year’s release, I had to sing a song representing my New Year’s resolution ^o^

I chose to do “Sorairo” from Fruits Basket, representing my resolution to think more positively and look to the future instead of dwelling on the past ^.^

Because my best friend Saki wanted me to translate “Minna no Tamago” into Mandarin for her XP

So I figured, well, I’m translating it, and I have to check out if the timing and everything works anyways, might as well record myself attempting to sing it!!! So okay, the singing kind of sucks… my voice is tired from recording asf;kjadk;j groupdub lines, most of which were overdue T.T And I chose to one-shot this because that’s just easier for editing purposes. This is the second attempt XD

But I’m proud of my translation ^.^ I think I kept the spirit of the original lyrics in both meaning and poetic elements (aka kiddie onomatopeias for the “pyon pyon fumu fumu” sort of stuff, and also the repeating “blahblabhblah no koto” things in my translation).

Then again, my Mandarin is getting kind of rusty, and I have the vocabulary of about a middle-schooler, so… maybe they actually really suck and I just can’t tell XD

I also apologize for any mispronunciations, but I don’t usually take care of all my rhotic consonants when I talk, so it was really confusing trying to make sure they were all there when I sang this (since I don’t want to be teaching Saki bad Mandarin…)

Bon Kyu! Bon Kyu! BOMB Concert Groupdub Pt 2

Yay! This is the second video in the Bon Kyu! Bon Kyu! BOMB Concert groupdub series!

I’m pretty pleased with the synchronization and timing in this one, but I feel like the balance between individual singers as well as between the vocal track and the instrumental track is definitely less good in this one. Oh well, thus is life…

I’ve also been completely hosed, which is why this has actually been done for a good month or so now but I’ve only gotten around to writing it up now ^.^;
