Ahhh I really love this song, maybe because the girls look like they have such attitudes when they’re singing ^.^ I also think it’s just a really nice song, plus it’s squarely within my best range.

I’ve also ventured into the world of video mixing, so this one’s actually dub (aka I tried to synchronize my singing to the video). It was moderately successful. The singing I’m pretty pleased with (there were a few less good parts where voice control went out the window for a split second… but…)

Oh, and apparently it’s synced good enough to really confuse my boyfriend into thinking that all the girls sounded like me for some reason 😛

So here:

Enjoy!!

Well, given that my first introduction to J-pop was through anime, and that I then discovered AKB48 before even getting to H!P, the inevitable has happened… I’ve decided to cover songs outside of H!P…

So my blog will from now on begin featuring my covers of various anime songs as well as other non-H!P artists, although I suspect there will still be a heavy emphasis on H!P material. ^.^

Koi no Fuga

Maybe this is my Koi series ^.^ Another song by W, also in an imitation of a foreign musical style, this time the Tango, wheee! This song was also fairly simple to learn, and I just really liked the melody, so…

And I tried the reverb thing again. I’m still going to have to experiment some more to really figure out how to fine tune it and use different amounts on different parts of the song, but for now I seem to have found some settings that work decently.

Care to dance?

Enjoy!

Koi no Vacance

Well, first of all I think W is adorable and have really fun songs, and also, I kind of wanted to do more self-duetting because it’s strangely satisfying. So I decided that Koi no Vacance would be a good one to start with, because it’s short and has a simple melody. I also love the fact that they’re trying to imitate French music ^.^

Also, I just got a shiny new computer (which I then promptly dropped so now part of the case is sad… X.X) which allows me to run a version of Audacity that has a working reverb plugin, so I experimented with that a little. Amazing how just a tiny bit of reverb really affects the sound ^.^

So here ’tis!

Hope you like it!

This is one of my favorite songs on the Cafe Buono! album, but unfortunately, it’s not one of their big ones so is probably underappreciated. It’s absolutely beautiful, and has the cutest imagery – sheep… in the stars… eating grass… AWWW – while at the same time having a rather haunting and forlorn sort of quality to it. Not to mention we get to hear Airi, Momoko, and Miyabi’s voices in a much different mode from the more frequently heard upbeat chipper sort of singing. They sound amazing, and the low-ness of the song in addition to the mellower type of music makes their voices sound two to three years more mature.

But anyways, I decided it would be really nice to do a cover of it. Unfortunately, there exists no premade instrumental track for it, but Audacity to the rescue! By splitting the stereo soundtrack into two mono tracks, inverting one, and then mixing them back together, I managed to obtain a fairly decent sounding instrumental. Some of the bass is missing (sadness… makes it sound a little more… tinkly or banjo-y or something), and there was definitely a vocal residue, which made balancing between the instrumentals and my voice kind of a tricky compromise. On the other hand, I get to have backup vocals done by Buono!!!! ^.^ I feel special, I got to sing with them… (I wish….)

So here ’tis!

Enjoy!
