Yay! This is the second video in the Bon Kyu! Bon Kyu! BOMB Concert groupdub series!

I’m pretty pleased with the synchronization and timing in this one, but I feel like the balance between individual singers as well as between the vocal track and the instrumental track is definitely less good in this one. Oh well, thus is life…

I’ve also been completely hosed, which is why this has actually been done for a good month or so now but I’ve only gotten around to writing it up now ^.^;

But anyways, here ’tis!!

Well, I decided to take on an ambitious organization/mixing project, trying to host a groupdub of the entire Morning Musume Bon Kyu! Bon Kyu! BOMB concert.  And maaan…. it’s a task, trying to mix 9 voices, and I’m totally being a perfectionist for this, so that doesn’t make things easier XD. Thank goodness most of the people in the dub have been very good about turning in lines on time and such, so that has not been a big as a hassle as I worried it could become.

Result? Hours of aligning all 9 parts by syllable, and then tweaking the volume levels. This is the first time I’ve actually spent time de-amplifying parts where more than one person sings, so that the volume throughout the song is more or less the same (aka no blastingly loud chorus parts where 9 people suddenly all sing together).

I think it came out pretty well, except that apparently I had the audio volume too loud for Adobe Premier to export properly so the sound is kind of staticy >.< Oh well, live and learn…

One of my best YT friends, AlwaysYouu, and I decided that it would be awesome to do some duets together, since we have fairly similar voices and like the same songs. So we’ve started our duet series with a dub of “Everyday Everywhere” as sung by Ai Takahashi and Reina Tanaka in concert. The song was originally by Taiyou and Ciscomoon (another Hello! Project subgroup) as a quartet, but I really like the concert version. Besides, both AlwaysYouu and I are big fans of Aichan and Reina.

This was a really difficult song, given the high level of vocal proficiency of the two original singers, and the fact that there’s a lot of super-high adlibs. I think we did pretty good overall though! And by chance (on my part at least) we ended up sounding not entirely far off from the original voices. The audio is kind of too loud, and I apologize for that (as I was the mixer for this).

So here it is! It’s the first time I’ve posted a non-solo piece ^.^

Enjoy!!!

Debuting Kyttyee#2!!! I couldn’t resist the charm of this song, not only are the lyrics really cute, but the song itself has a charmingly simple and almost childlike melody, with sparse but effective harmonies. Of course this also makes it a good song to attempt self-harmonization on, since it’s fairly easy, with just separation by thirds, diverging scales, etc. I think the harmonization turned out pretty good for the most part ^.^

This is another Kawaiirhea recommendation that had not originally occurred to me to cover ^.^ Plus, I felt it was about time I covered a Morning Musume song, because I like them a lot. There is again some amount of high range that does not come out as well with my current recording setup, and of course I can’t possibly hope to even sound like Takitty, but I can try, right? So here’s Morning Musume’s “Hare Ame Nochi Suki”:

Enjoy!
